“The Allen County Republican Party is still looking for a new headquarters, but the state GOP may have found a home for its Fort Wayne “victory center.”

Bill Bean, a former member of the Allen County Republican Executive Committee who owns several commercial buildings in Fort Wayne, said the Indiana Republican Party is close to signing a lease for space in the Metro Building at 202 W. Berry St., which he bought recently.”

“Contrary to earlier statements, however, Shine said the county party will not relocate into the upper-floor of the victory center, which has been the subject of at least one local fund-raiser.

The local party’s current headquarters at 135 W. Main St. was put up for sale for $425,000 earlier this year because the party had fallen behind in paying its $2,000-a-month rent. The party has been struggling financially in recent months, which some attribute to lingering divisions created by the contest between Matt Kelty and County Commissioner Nelson Peters for the 2007 mayoral nomination.”

  1. Wow, look at all those parking lots. Hopefully we see more interest in downtown, leading these lots to be built upon.
