Art Crawl This Friday

The Downtown Improvement District, Arts United and Artlink of Downtown Fort Wayne are paying homage to our vibrant art culture with Art Crawl. Art Crawl is a downtown street arts festival featuring over 30 local artists. You’ll be able to walk the streets of Downtown Fort Wayne and browse and purchase the art of local artisans. On hand will also be a performance stage where some of the area’s most creative performers will sing and dance.
A joint effort between the DID, Arts United, and Artlink, this event takes place on the streets, restaurants, offices and shops on Wayne Street from Harrison to Clinton and on Calhoun Street from Washington to Wayne.

With the area’s top artists in hand, Art Crawl 2008 is jam-packed with great talent. Each artist will have their own exhibition space and will be displaying and/or selling their work. As well, the center of Downtown Fort Wayne will host a large stage for performances by some of the area’s favorite institutions, including the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir.

One of Downtown’s hidden treasures is the Midtowne Crossing courtyard. Tucked between the buildings of the east side of Calhoun Street, the Courtyard is a hidden oasis perfect for relaxation and, more importantly, parties.
We’ve taken over this amazing space for Art Crawl and are turning it into the Liquid Art Lounge. It will be an amazing getaway for the over-21 crowd designed for social interaction and fun!
Aside from all the great art exhibitions of Art Crawl, there are tons of activities for everyone to enjoy! This is a “crawl” after all, and if you walk around enough, you’ll find tons of interesting and unique types of entertainment.

All of downtown is celebrating art on May 30 so be sure to hop aboard the free trolley at Wayne and Clinton to take full advantage of the Art CRAWL! You will be whisked off to some of downtown’s finest cultural institutions who are hosting special arts activities in conjunction with the Art Crawl
an after party where a disco ball is a given…
Starting at 8:00 p.m. and running until 11:00, this final event will be a techno dance party held on the outdoor Terrace at the Botanical Conservatory. Techno is a form of electronic dance music that came out of Detroit in the mid to late 1980’s. Local techno DJs will envelop you in their sound as you dance the night away.
