“A group of local bicycle riders does have two common ideas: that the streets of Fort Wayne aren’t what they consider rider-friendly, and not having to consider miles per gallon when it’s time to ride feels good.
Complete with a solid motive to stage a Fort Wayne version of a Critical Mass ride, more than 50 riders commandeered at least a full lane of traffic as they wandered through the city’s streets Friday in the second such ride that runs on the last Friday of every month – rain or shine.”
“Friday’s ride, which lasted about an hour and a half, started at Lawton Park, wound through downtown, headed northeast toward Lakeside Park and back down Washington Street to downtown once again. The group maintained a medium-slow pace and covered about 6 miles.
Three Rivers Velo Sport club member Tim Ellsworth, who joins in on 3RVS club-organized rides and competitions, sees potential but has a wait-and-see attitude about whether the Critical Mass rides in Fort Wayne will take off. Ellsworth was encouraged, though, by the response from motorists on this ride.”

“Although there are several miles of maintained trails in Fort Wayne, including the Greenway and the Aboite New Trails, members of the group said those trails aren’t completely practical for daily commuting but they’re happy to have them.”
