Last Call For New Wiz Kids Name
Only One Day Remains to Make Team Name Suggestions
Open suggestion period to close at midnight Monday, June 30th
“The public’s opportunity to submit team name suggestions will soon be coming to a close. Only one day remains for fans to have their voice be heard and offer their suggestions as to what Fort Wayne’s Minor League Baseball team will be called when they open play downtown at the Ballpark at Harrison Square in April of 2009.
Suggestions can be made by logging on to HarrisonSquareFortWayne.com and clicking on the link for the Re-Name the Team contest.
“Suggestions have been steady for the last two weeks,” Michael Limmer, Assistant General Manager of the Wizards stated. “We want to hear from everyone that has a creative idea. We hope that people will take the time to submit their names before the deadline passes on Monday night.”
Once the open suggestion period comes to a close team officials and Minor League Baseball consultants will dig through all submissions to evaluate which names have the most potential. “Narrowing the list down will be the most difficult part, but we have confidence that from such a strong pool of suggestions we can hone in on the best of the best,” Limmer explained. “We will roll out a list of potential names in the next couple of weeks and ask for even more feedback. We want the public to be involved as much as possible in the process since it will be their team in their community.”
The team will select one contest participant to receive a prize package that will include season tickets for the 2009 season, a shopping spree in the team store and the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch at the new ballpark on Opening Day 2009.
