“The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission on Monday consumed a chunk of the downtown ballpark’s contingency money, but city officials stressed the $30 million project is on schedule and on cost.
Greg Leatherman, city redevelopment director, said there is still about $1.5 million available for unexpected costs and amenities for the project after the additional expenses approved Monday, a decrease from about $2 million.”

“The commission did approve several cost decreases from similar engineering changes on various contracts. Leatherman said those cuts were already anticipated and are included in the $1.5 million contingency number.”

“Leatherman said if there is contingency money available at the end of the project, it could be used on other amenities, such as a nicer batter’s eye screen in center field to help hitters see the pitch. He said those decisions will be made when the likelihood of unknown cost increases diminishes.”
