“Park Place will close Aug. 2, and Jovevski promises that its reopening as L’Asiatique two weeks later will provide customers an experience that justifies the “fine dining” designation. Most entrees will be in the $18-$26 range.

The new name – “it means ‘Asian’ in French,” Jovevski said – will reflect both style and substance. During the temporary shutdown. the restaurant in the First Source building at 200 E. Main St. will receive a makeover stressing a more contemporary, colorful appearance.”

He intends to continue that hands-on approach as co-owner with his father, Metodija Jovevski, citing his passion for the work and his belief that downtown Fort Wayne is on the cusp of exciting times, thanks to the Harrison Square revitalization project and other recent improvements.

“I often go out to eat in Chicago and other big cities, and I want people to know there will be a place like that in Fort Wayne,” said Jovevski, who studied cooking and restaurant management at Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, S.C., and was a chef at Joseph Decuis in Roanoke and Opus 24 at Covington Plaza before moving to Park Place last year.”

  1. Sorry to see Park Place go, but it sounds like downtown will hopefully be getting something different and unique in its place.

  2. Andy, I agree on both counts. It might be a bit of a risk, but one that could have big rewards if done right. We’ll see.
