Henry Honing In On Harrison
Baseball fan Henry buys in
1-bedroom with den facing new stadium

“Henry on Monday confirmed making his 10 percent down payment to purchase one of the 62 downtown condominiums that are part of the $130 million Harrison Square project.
The mayor in January put down a $1,000 refundable deposit for one of the condos but just recently decided to move forward with the process. He said it took time because the developer, Barry Real Estate, had to work through the list of names on the waiting list to get to Henry, who was No. 55.”
[...]
“Henry said the step after that will be to close on the purchase, but he said this decision was fairly final. He said he and his wife, Cindy, are buying a one-bedroom condominium with a den that will overlook the new minor league ballpark.
“My wife and I are huge baseball fans,” he said.”

So, now, the total sold is 5 or is it 6? Out of 62 - with the Henry’s being # 55 in line that means 55 less 5 or 6 -leaves 49 or 50 that said “no deal”? Anyone who thinks that any “privately-financed” part of this boondoggle is ever going to be a success (or even be built) is involved in” Fort Wayne- Dreaming(Nightmaring?)” again!
John-
Welcome back! It has been far too positive here without you. They will announce in the next month that the project will be built-thus proving you wrong for the 47th time in regards to this project and you can go back into hiding. Ready to buy everyone the draft beers on opening day 2008?
John-
Are you sure they have sold 5 or 6-I’m told its around 20. Don’t let the facts get in your way John!
#1 Fan- If what you say is true, why haven’t we heard about it? Can you back your statement up with the facts you are crowing about? Or are you just spouting off, again?
Scott or Brian - can you add these facts? Or is it another boondoggle secret?
John,
All I can provide you is this quote from a recent WANE story:
“Henry said the developers had a goal of having 30 people put down payments on a condo by the end of the month, and he thinks they are close to meeting it.”
I love John’s methodology. He dares us to find facts in order to disprove his speculation. Meanwhile he’s working on his spin for when he finds out that he is wrong.
BTW - Henry was on Pat White the yesterday and said there would be an announcement very soon about the progress on the sale of the condos. I was working and half-listening. I thought he said they were close to the 30.
This little charade called Boondoggleville is coming to a close. I call for a human chain to circumvent the entire Harrison Square complex on August 1, at 6:30 am.
We need all the big boys to come out and join hands around the ball park. Kalb, Pat White, Rush Limbaugh, mark this day on of your calendars. And bring American Flags, lots of them. Join hands, wave the flag and then conduct a one minute moment of silence. Folks can feel free to blame the devil for Harrison Square during this minute, do the Ickey Shuffle, or perform a Michael Jackson moon walk.
The construction workers will all drop their hammers and screwguns and rejoice with us. It’s gonna be beautiful - heaven on earth. May also be a tear-jerker moment - so have lots of Kleenex available.
I’d pay $50 to see Mr. Kalb, Pat White and Limbaugh all joinging hands and doing the Ickey Shuffle. I’ll even supply the American flags.
What a stinker ! I showed up for the 6:30 am show of force to encirlce Harrison Square and it was a complete disaster. I’m not gonna pull any puches here, the only people who came were myself, my neighbor Harold and my dog. I told Harold he would be on Indiana News Center channel 21 to entice him to come. I was expecting hoards of people, but nothing. You know what I’m saying ? Harold got pissed and left me to go to Starbucks.
Gary, thanks for nothing. I didn’t bring any American Flags because you said you would bring enough for everyone, and you didn’t even show up.
I thought I saw Pat White on the southwest corner, but it turned out to be a homeless guy.
No Kalb, no Pat White, no Limbaugh, no angry mobs, no fort wayne police in riot gear. Just me, Harold and my dog, RocketOne, standing on the corner at Jefferson waving to people on their way to work.
I was caught in all the downtown traffic caused by the Boondoggle. Perhaps everyone else was too.
I was gonna’ join you guys, but I couldn’t find a rack close by to lock up my bike. Do the Harrison Square plans provide for bike parking, or will that turn out to be The Great Bicycle Boondoggle of 2009?
