“One restaurant company is interested in building a mixed-use development downtown, but city officials are unsure whether its proposal will be accepted.
The city this year requested proposals for developing the land on the north side of Superior Street between Clinton Street and the Club Soda restaurant. Greg Leatherman, executive director of redevelopment, said the city received one submission by this week’s deadline.”

“Though more study is needed, Leatherman said there are some initial concerns on the amount of public backing the development expects.
“They may have counted on more subsidy than we indicated were available,” he said.
City staff plans to review the proposal in detail early next week. If it is determined the proposal doesn’t meet the requirements, it could be rejected immediately. Otherwise a larger group will examine it, at which point parts of the proposal will likely be released to the public, Leatherman said. He said the city asked for a mixed-use development with retail, office and housing.”
