“Watch a TinCaps game while you work out. Or work off some steam from shopping.
Either way, owners of two fitness club franchises in Fort Wayne are hoping you break a sweat at one chain.
Gym members at Anytime Fitness will be able to watch minor league baseball while working out at a two-story 6,000- to 7,000-square-foot gym, according to plans for one location expected to open next summer.”

“Franchise co-owners Holli and Tony Ruble are partnering with Rod and Jen Rahebi on the Harrison Square location, which will be built below planned condos overlooking the minor league baseball field. Aquarium-style windows will offer members first-floor views of left field, Tony Ruble said. The second story will open up to a terrace where members can also catch the game.
Ruble didn’t disclose how much will be invested on the venture.”
They may have to wait a while…
“work off steam from shopping” ? What? Where?
I am all in favor of this project but I am afraid the handle has been pulled and we are watching it swirl away…
Too bad, they had the opportunity to really doing something that this city has never seen.
It’s really too bad that a mental fitness tenant hasn’t signed up for space in this complex – that’s what some of our “leaders???” need!
Is that John Kalb whining again?
Everyone should start wearing WWJKD bracelets. What Wouldn’t John Kalb Do. I think its great that you have all the right answers, but are completely content with just complaining about how wrong everyone else is. Man up and do something about it. Since you have the ideas that can save this city, run for office. You’d have my vote, since I think you have the ability to take politics to the next level of hilarity.
Given the events in Illinois today maybe we could use a few more community watchdogs re: political leaders…
Eph. 4:29, John! Would these leaders feel grace coming from you?
Does John go to your church or have some Christian commonality you have established with him? So Governor Blagojevich would get a free pass no matter what?
@Mike: Yes, I joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where John Kalb has been a member for many decades. The Christian commonality we share is that we both profess to trust in Jesus as Lord and savior and believe and follow the Bible as the true and infallible Word of God.
Jesus said love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Mat. 5:44) That’s a command, not a suggestion. If a Christian feels he has an “enemy” on some particular issue, be it personal injustice or political opposition, he still has a duty to love and pray for them. If he feels he can’t, he should check his heart ask God to soften it. If he simply won’t, he needs to repent fast!
Re: Blagojevich, if the Christian citizen feels he is his “enemy”, he should by all means pursue justice while STILL loving and praying for him, and hoping for his good. This may seem counter-cultural, but it’s clearly what Jesus demands.
Mike – Thanks for your support – Scott Greider and I do worship together and we also “preach” to each other, often — not normally on a blog. In addition to being critical of our “officials” on the blogs, et al, I do regularly pray for them (and even love them when they do “dumb” IMO things)) – after all our Lord did tell us to honor those placed over us and we need to obey this command even when it is difficult to understand the logic. No matter what – God is still in charge!
oh, ok… maybe I at least helped clear up that up for other readers too then.
So 6000- 7000 of the (originally planned) 30,000 sf of retail is going to a fitness center. A two sory on at that! That should be an even bigger “catalyst” than the much bigger facility at the YMCA. And what a happy coincidence that this tenant saves Barry Real Estate the expense of providing the promised fitness center for the 3 (so far) future residents of “The Harrison” and the team players.
This project has always been about increasing the sale value of a minor league baseball team through expenditure of public funds. And for those who bet (literally) it could be done, things are going swimmingly. A free liquor license and, now, a proposed seat on a new parking board, are making things better and better.
