In reference to our previous Then And Now post “Swingin’ Gate And The Who“, WGDT reader Clay Blackburn relates the following:
“Found your post about the Swinging Gate and it reminded me of this old WLYV music guide. There’s an ad on the back for the Swinging Gate and check out who played there just a couple months before The Who. The Stumps and The Sound Explosion! I’m guessing that years later they bragged about how they played on the same stages as the Who!”

“I’ve attached a later version of the same guide if you’re interested. I’m surprised by the number of songs I don’t remember as well as the assortment of artists on the list. Three Dog Night, The Archies, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater, Bobby Sherman, Stevie Wonder, Harlow Wilcox, Elvis Presley, Judy Collins, The 1910 Fruitgum Co., Led Zeppelin and Rick Nelson all on the same radio station during the same week!”
