“Tim Easton, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and recording artist for the New West Records label, will perform on Monday, April 27th, 2009 at The Brass Rail in downtown Fort Wayne at 9PM.

The concert is the first show of Easton’s tour to promote Porcupine, his fifth record, which will be released on April 28th (and available at the Brass Rail performance). The show is Easton’s record release show. Easton has released three previous albums for New West. The first, The Truth About Us, featured acclaimed rock band Wilco as his backing band.

Easton will be on tour with his band. He played a memorable solo show at the Brass Rail in December, 2008, when local musician Jon Ross sat in for 90 minutes of a 2.5-hr set, playing songs he’d never heard before.

The event is 21+ and will have a $4.00 cover at the door. Opening the night will be local band Lee Miles & The Illegitimate Sons.

OLG’s Matt Kelley said of concert, “Easton’s performance in December was the best concert in Fort Wayne last year (no matter how good the Whammy Awards said the Def Leppard/Billy Idol show was)! It was great to hear that Mr. Easton himself loved it so much that he wanted to launch his new record here in Fort Wayne.”

Allmusic.com awards Porcupine four-stars and says that “for all its obvious connections, Easton’s music remains refreshingly unique; infused with colorful lyrics that describe the struggling lives and lost loves of rural Americans in heart-wrenching detail.”

Rolling Stone magazine said of Break Your Mother’s Heart, “****…[Easton’s] observations about shattered lives, types of love and unfriendly places are double blessed—with memorable musical nuances and a novelist’s sense of humanity.”
