“The Downtown Improvement District Board on Tuesday approved a $5,000 “challenge grant” after being approached for help by Festival Director Mayumi Carboni, and the TinCaps minor-league baseball team has pledged a similar amount, President Mike Nutter said. As of last week, festival officials said they needed about $20,000 to assure this year’s fireworks display, Downtown Improvement District President Richard Davis said.
For the TinCaps, some degree of support for the festival-concluding display was almost a necessity. The team’s printed schedule promises fireworks after its 5:05 p.m. July 19 game, and the team would have had to provide its own show – costing about $5,000 – if the festival event was canceled because of financial problems.”

“City residents will have two options to watch the red glare of rockets this Independence Day as two shows are scheduled in the Summit City.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps recently announced moving the team’s July 4 game from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and added a previously unscheduled fireworks display after the final out.
That is also the night of the Centennial Wireless Fireworks Spectacular at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.”
