Fort’s Finest Moving Downtown
FWPD moving downtown

“The official announcement will come Tuesday morning.
The source says the police department is out of space, so by the end of next year it will move its headquarters from the current Creighton Avenue location to the Renaissance Square building downtown.
There’s speculation other city government operations could also be moving to that building on Berry Street, but at this point NewsChannel 15 has been unable to confirm whether that might be the case or whether Tuesday’s announcement will involve any operations beyond those of the city police.”
The move also shows up in tonight’s Common Council agenda:
R-09-06-13
“A RESOLUTION approving the sale and purchase agreement for the property located at 200 East Berry Street
It is financially desirable to proceed with the purchase of the property located at 200 East Berry Street to provide the Fort Wayne Police Department and the City of Fort Wayne’s various departments with adequate operational facilities”
i wonder if this will change the neighborhood over there in the creighton area.
its bad as it is even with the police station in the middle of it.
i dont see this as a good move.
Well, it looks like Harrison Square really is a catalyst. A catalyst for more taxpayer money being spent to build more taxpayer owned facilities using back room negotiations. No reasdon to give the public notice of the cost. Exhibit A to the resolution seems to be missing.
Good to push this through before announcing declines in property tax revenues.
